The Sphere: Art, Music, or Science?

Abstract - It exploded on the Sin City strip in Las Vegas, Nevada like a ball of fire. It is called the Sphere. It is a spectacle to be seen and experienced to be believed. It is the latest attempt to align the planets of art, music and science. But are they complimenting each other or competing? The following is a perspective piece to provide academic literature to add to the popular press. Some future research suggestions include not only performance "of" but "as" music; medium not only "is" the message but "is" the music; plus, a look at spectacle and intimacy.
